Microgravity and Multiphase Flows

Description

  • Two-phase and multiphase flows in microgravity conditions. Generation and control of two-phase and multiphase flows in low gravity environments. Design of more-efficient space subsystems (life support systems, satellites, etc). Methods: CFD, numerical modelling, experiments in the lab and in microgravity platforms.
  • Two-phase flows in microgravity conditions and aerosol generation. The final objective is to better understand airborne disease transmission, given the relationship of viral load/infectious quanta with the number size distribution of the droplets and aerosols produced during expiratory events, the dynamical conditions of the droplets and aerosols and their subsequent evolution. Methods: Numerical modelling, experiments in the lab and in microgravity platforms. (Also: III. INF DIS)
